Our Historic East Baltimore Community Action Coalition's Dee's Place is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Peer Recovery Specialist/Peer Coach to join our team. As a Peer Recovery Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals on their journey towards recovery and wellness. About Us Dee's Place has been a safe haven for people in recovery for over 20 years, providing a supportive community, 12-step meetings, day program activities, and connections to psychiatric rehabilitative services. Our team is passionate about empowering individuals to take control of their lives, and we're looking for a like-minded professional to join our crew. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 peer recovery coaching, counseling, and mentoring to support participants in achieving their recovery goals. Facilitate peer-led groups on topics such as harm reduction, wellness, and recovery planning. Assist participants in accessing and securing entitlements, benefits, and services, including food stamps, Temporary Cash Assistance, and health insurance. Make effective referrals to substance use disorder or mental health services as needed. Perform electronic online data entry of participant engagement documentation. Communicate effectively with clients, their families, and partner agencies. Prepare reports and records, including documentation of participant encounters and service plans. Perform related duties as needed. Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must meet the following minimum qualifications: High School Diploma or graduation equivalent. CPRS (Certified Peer Recovery Specialist) Certification or willingness to obtain certification within 6 months of hire. 2 years of related experience or equivalent education and experience. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications will be considered a plus: Additional education or training in a related field. Experience working with individuals with behavioral health issues and/or involvement in the criminal justice system. Knowledge of recovery principles, harm reduction, and wellness strategies. Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you will need: Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to build trust-based relationships with participants. Empathy, compassion, and understanding of the recovery process. Knowledge of community resources and services. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
