About the Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC) Team
The MSRC team is responsible for protecting Microsoft's online services from cyber threats. As a Data Scientist in this team, you will work closely with experts in the field to develop and implement statistical, machine learning, and AI models to detect and prevent cyberattacks. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with partners across Microsoft who have extensive experience in security, analysis, and machine learning, and to develop your skills and expertise in this field.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement statistical, machine learning, and AI models to detect and prevent cyberattacks
Collaborate with experts in the field to develop and implement models that meet business targets
Analyze large datasets to identify trends and patterns, and to develop insights that can inform business decisions
Communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders, including business partners and clients
Mentor and guide less experienced engineers in data analysis and modeling best practices
Develop and maintain technical expertise in data science, machine learning, and AI, including programming languages such as Python and Scala


Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong educational background in a relevant field, such as data science, mathematics, statistics, econometrics, economics, operations research, or computer science. You will also need to have at least 2 years of experience in data science, including experience with managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical methods, and reporting results. Additionally, you will need to have programming experience in Python or Scala.

Preferred Qualifications

A graduate degree in a relevant field, such as data science, mathematics, statistics, econometrics, economics, operations research, or computer science
Experience with machine learning and AI, including experience with programming languages such as Python and Scala
Experience with data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI
Experience with cloud-based technologies, such as Azure or AWS
Strong communication and collaboration skills, including experience working with cross-functional teams
