This is a senior-level individual contributor role that reports directly to our Head of Engineering. As a member of our technology team, you will play a critical role in shaping the architecture and implementation of systems that process millions of transactions daily.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for building high-performance, scalable, and reliable data processing systems. You should be comfortable working with large-scale distributed systems and have a deep understanding of cloud-native technologies. This part-time position offers flexibility and the opportunity to work remotely, making it ideal for professionals seeking work-life balance without compromising on career growth.

Key Responsibilities

As a Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will be responsible for designing and building distributed data processing and analytical systems that form the backbone of our payment infrastructure. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Designing and constructing distributed data processing and analytical systems that handle massive volumes of transaction data with low latency and high reliability
Creating high-level architecture designs as well as detailed technical designs for subsystems and features, with a strong emphasis on performant, maintainable code
Building and coding features while collaborating with other developers on daily activities, including code reviews and other Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) tasks
Building Proof of Concepts (POCs) to validate new ideas and emerging technologies before full implementation
Continuously researching and learning industry-leading and innovative technologies and solutions that can enhance our systems
Being deeply knowledgeable about enabling technologies and open-source products that help build low-latency distributed systems
Leading a culture of innovation and experimentation, fostering a fun and results-oriented environment, and always being willing to try new ideas without fear of failure
Collaborating with peer technology and innovation teams across different geographic locations to ensure seamless integration and knowledge sharing
Mentoring and providing technical guidance to other engineers on the team
Participating in on-call rotation and supporting production systems when necessary

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have:

Experience with cloud platforms and containerization technologies
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex distributed system issues
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create and deliver effective presentations to senior leadership
The ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
