Job Summary As an Online Instructor - Sociology, you will be responsible for teaching online courses in sociology, supporting the institution's mission and vision, and maintaining currency in your teaching discipline. Key Responsibilities: Design and deliver high-quality online courses in sociology, aligning with the college's curriculum and standards. Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, assessments, and evaluations to promote student learning and success. Provide individualized support and guidance to students, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. Utilize educational technology and learning management systems to facilitate online instruction and communication. Participate in departmental and college-wide meetings, contributing to the development of curriculum, policies, and procedures. Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and grades, in accordance with college policies. Collaborate with colleagues and departmental staff to ensure seamless course delivery and student support. Essential Qualifications: Education: Master's degree in sociology or a master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in sociology. Certifications: Certification in online teaching is highly preferred. Experience: Previous teaching experience, particularly in online or distance education, is highly valued. Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage students and colleagues in an online environment. Preferred Qualifications: Online Teaching Experience: Previous experience teaching online or in a distance education setting. Sociology Expertise: Specialized knowledge or expertise in specific areas of sociology, such as criminology, social inequality, or cultural studies.
