Job Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Custodian to join our team at Glenwood High School, working the 3rd shift from 10 PM to 6 AM. As a key member of our facilities team, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment for our students, staff, and visitors. Key Responsibilities Clean and maintain all areas of the school, including classrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas, to ensure a safe and healthy environment Perform routine custodial tasks, such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and emptying trash and recyclables Operate and maintain custodial equipment, such as floor buffers, vacuum cleaners, and cleaning machines Restock supplies, such as paper products, soap, and cleaning materials, as needed Respond to emergency situations, such as spills or accidents, and take prompt action to prevent injuries or damage Collaborate with other custodial staff to ensure seamless coverage and completion of tasks Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and other staff members Provide exceptional customer service and respond to requests and concerns in a timely and professional manner Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you must: Have a high school diploma or equivalent Have prior experience in custodial or maintenance work, preferably in a school or educational setting Be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds, and stand for long periods Be able to work independently and as part of a team Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills Be able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Experience working with cleaning equipment and machinery Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols Basic first aid and CPR training Experience working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you must possess the following skills and competencies: Attention to detail : ability to ensure high standards of cleanliness and maintenance Time management : ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively Communication : ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and visitors Teamwork : ability to work collaboratively with other custodial staff and school personnel Adaptability : ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities Physical stamina : ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds, and stand for long periods Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Ball-Chatham Community Schools, we are committed to supporting the growth and development of our staff.
