Key Responsibilities Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum that aligns with state and national standards, including choral music programs such as chorus, choir, and choral ensemble. Plan and deliver instruction that caters to the diverse needs and abilities of students, using a range of teaching strategies and technologies. Utilize a variety of music literature, including traditional and contemporary pieces, to engage students and promote musical growth. Establish and maintain a positive and productive classroom environment, ensuring that students are motivated, focused, and respectful. Assess student learning and progress, using a range of evaluation tools and techniques to inform instruction and improve student outcomes. Plan, rehearse, and direct students in musical performances for school and community events, promoting school spirit and community engagement. Collaborate with colleagues and administrators to develop and implement music programs that align with district goals and objectives. Maintain professional competence through ongoing professional development, staying current with best practices in music education and incorporating new ideas and technologies into teaching practice. Participate in faculty committees and sponsor student activities, contributing to the broader life of the school community. Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities, ensuring their safety and well-being. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to possess: A valid teaching certification or license, with a specialization in music education. A bachelor's degree in music education or a related field. Experience teaching choral music programs, preferably in a K-12 setting. Strong knowledge of music theory, history, and appreciation, as well as choral music literature and pedagogy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and parents. Ability to adapt to a remote or hybrid teaching environment, with strong technical skills and familiarity with digital learning tools. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: A master's degree in music education or a related field. Experience with curriculum design and development, particularly in music education. Familiarity with state and national standards for music education. Experience working with diverse student populations, including students with varying abilities and needs. Knowledge of current trends and technologies in music education, including digital tools and resources.
