Job Overview Under the general supervision of our experienced healthcare professionals, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care and administrative support in our clinic setting. As a Medical Assistant II, you will be responsible for performing routine patient care procedures, technical tasks, and clerical duties that ensure the smooth operation of our clinics. Your strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment will make you an invaluable asset to our team. Key Responsibilities Assist healthcare providers with patient care procedures, including preparing patients for exams, taking vital signs, and documenting medical information Perform technical tasks such as administering intramuscular, subcutaneous, or intra-dermal injections, skin tests, and venipunctures Provide exceptional patient care and customer service, responding to patient inquiries and concerns in a professional and empathetic manner Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA guidelines Collaborate with healthcare providers and other clinic staff to ensure seamless patient flow and efficient clinic operations Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of best practices in patient care and administrative support Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A Medical Assistant diploma or equivalent certification High school graduate or equivalent preferred Prior experience as a Medical Assistant, preferably working with the frail elderly or in a similar healthcare setting Fluency in English and Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese, depending on location Current BLS certification Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Experience working in a fast-paced clinic environment Knowledge of electronic health records (EHRs) and practice management systems Certification in phlebotomy or other relevant areas Experience working with diverse patient populations, including those with limited English proficiency Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you will need to possess: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, providers, and other clinic staff Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities Empathy and compassion, with a strong commitment to delivering exceptional patient care and customer service Basic computer skills and ability to learn new software applications Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At AltaMed, we are committed to supporting the career development and growth of our employees.
