Experienced Mechanical Specialist for Electric Vehicle Design and Development - $25/Hour Remote Opportunity

Job Overview In this role, you will be responsible for the mechanical design and packaging of air conditioning parts to meet system and vehicle requirements while optimizing for efficiency, cost, weight, manufacturability, and usability. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Quality, Manufacturing, Approval, and Purchasing, as well as external suppliers to design exceptional vehicles. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring that Tesla's vehicles meet all motor vehicle safety standards governing air conditioning operation. Key Responsibilities Mechanical design and packaging of air conditioning parts to meet system and vehicle requirements while optimizing for efficiency, cost, weight, manufacturability, and usability Manage suppliers and projects to ensure optimal program expectations within budget Develop component and system-level requirements based on vehicle-level requirements and customer experience Lead the creation of component specifications, component DFMEA, and other technical design documents Develop and execute component and subsystem design validation plans and test strategies to validate production adherence to requirements Ensure vehicles comply with all motor vehicle safety standards governing air conditioning operation Support vehicle programs through the entire life cycle, including spec development, model builds, vehicle testing, and production Requirements and Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a strong foundation in mechanical engineering, with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. You should have exceptional design, packaging, and 3D modeling skills, with experience in CATIA or similar software. A passion for electric vehicles and energy efficiency is essential, as well as the ability to address novel and challenging design problems with tight timing constraints.
