About Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 Located halfway between Chicago, Illinois, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on the shores of Lake Michigan, Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 is a vibrant educational community serving nearly 15,500 students in preschool through grade 12. The district comprises one early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools, and a high school program divided between two 9-12th grade campuses. With a strong commitment to eliminating academic gaps and ensuring all children achieve at high levels, the district is guided by a belief in the potential of every student. Key Responsibilities Provide a personalized instructional program tailored to the abilities, needs, and learning characteristics of each student. Implement the prescribed curriculum, creating a child-centered learning environment that applies sound mental health and educational psychology practices. Employ creative methods of instruction and utilize a variety of materials within the designated curriculum. Become acquainted with the characteristics, needs, abilities, and problems of each child through personal interaction and by seeking information from various reports. Maintain up-to-date lesson plans and use designated methods to report student progress to parents. Attend specified in-service meetings and conferences with the building principal. Develop a close relationship with each student's parents or guardians. Perform other professional duties as assigned by the building principal. Essential Qualifications and Skills To be successful in this role, you must possess: A Professional Educators License with a Mathematics endorsement for Grade 6-8. A deep understanding of mathematics curriculum and instructional methods. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and colleagues. The ability to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Strong organizational skills to maintain up-to-date lesson plans and student records. Preferred qualifications include experience with remote or online teaching platforms, as this is a remote opportunity with Workwarp. Familiarity with educational technology and innovative instructional strategies is also highly valued.
