Key Responsibilities As a Long Term Substitute School Counselor, your key responsibilities will include: Delivering lesson plans as instructed by the regular classroom teacher and/or school administrators, including taking daily attendance. Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all students within the assigned classroom and responding to emergency situations in a professional and calm manner. Maintaining a professional and positive rapport with all students, staff, administration, and others. Maintaining order and discipline in the classroom, conducive to effective learning. Clearly communicating expectations and adapting to individual learning needs, providing individual and small group instruction. Striving to implement assistive technology in instruction and meet individual student needs. Actively participating in professional development sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge. Performing other related duties as assigned by the Principal or appropriate administrator. Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must: Hold at least one of the following licenses through the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE): Professional Educator License (PEL) or Substitute License (SUB). Have experience working with students, which is a significant plus. Be detail-oriented and able to follow written and verbal instructions. Have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret lesson plans, technical procedures, and textbooks. Have experience with technology equipment. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred: Prior experience as a substitute teacher or counselor. Strong knowledge of curriculum development and implementation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
