Job Overview In this critical role, you will be responsible for coordinating and executing live-focused initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams, including the Live Streaming Pipeline Engineering Team, Live On-Site Technical Managers, Production teams, and our Reliability Engineering teams. Your expertise will impact multiple areas of the live event lifecycle, from planning and testing to launch and execution. You will lead innovation initiatives that bridge the gap between production, hardware, broadcast engineering, and software engineering teams, ensuring that our live streaming services are always at the cutting edge of technology. Key Responsibilities Coordinate and partner with multiple stakeholders and clients to ensure the smooth execution of live streaming events Collaborate with contractors and in-house engineers for transmission planning, establishing and maintaining partnerships with satellite and IP transmission vendors Develop and maintain relationships with hardware and broadcast companies, including contribution/distribution encoder vendors, closed-captioning gear, and services Organize and maintain maps and drawings of venue infrastructures for effective communication with all entities Act as a central resource for engineering and production teams, collaborating to develop and execute technical plans that align with our creative and technical objectives Troubleshoot, diagnose, and report audio, video, and infrastructure issues, providing analysis and remediation of any issues in the video workflow Manage, build, and evolve ground ingest capabilities, including signal acquisition, inspection, validation, and standardization Monitor the industry for emerging technologies and trends, ensuring that our live streaming services remain at the forefront of innovation Work closely with teams to enable new feature development, determining how features affect overall operations and scaling Be present on launch days at the Network Operations Center (NOC) or ground ingest facilities as required, working flexible hours based on the live events schedule Travel for scheduled live events, as needed Qualifications and Requirements To be successful in this role, you will need: 5+ years of broadcast remote operations experience (preferably at the network level) in a coordination or supervisory role A strong understanding of digital audio/video fundamentals, compression technologies, distribution formats, and associated technologies Experience with video transport protocols, such as SDI, SMPTE-2110, RTP, RTMP, SRT, Zixi, RIST, HLS, and MPEG-DASH Proficiency in video and audio compression technology, with a deep understanding of remote production and on-site technical operations Knowledge of remote production facilities and equipment vendors, as well as the nuances of MVPD-based linear ecosystems and OTT video distribution Ability to assess and troubleshoot video and audio quality, with experience in on-premise video acquisition with partners or co-location facilities Nice to Have Experience with cloud-based infrastructure Experience with at least one programming language (Java, Go, Python) Experience with Unix (or Unix-based systems), shell scripting, and good SQL knowledge Experience with web technologies and distributed systems with microservices architecture Career Growth and Learning Opportunities At our company, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
