As a LEAD Afterschool Literacy Tutor, you will play a critical role in designing and delivering engaging literacy programs that foster a love of learning, improve academic achievement, and promote social and emotional growth. Key Responsibilities and Duties The successful candidate will be responsible for providing students with a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning environment that encourages intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Key responsibilities and duties include: Designing and delivering high-quality literacy programs that align with state and national standards, including reading, writing, and comprehension skills Developing and implementing lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles, abilities, and needs Creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes social and emotional learning, respect, and empathy Collaborating with teachers, staff, and community partners to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive approach to student learning and development Assessing student progress, identifying areas of strength and weakness, and developing targeted interventions to support students who require extra help Communicating effectively with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders to ensure that students receive the support and resources they need to succeed Participating in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge, skills, and practices in literacy education and afterschool programming Essential Qualifications and Skills To be considered for this exciting opportunity, candidates must possess the following essential qualifications and skills: High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or regional accrediting agency) Bachelor's degree preferred in education, literacy, or a related field Experience working with students, particularly in an afterschool or literacy education setting Strong knowledge of literacy education principles, practices, and standards Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including students, parents, and community partners Strong behavior management and classroom management skills Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively Preferred Qualifications and Skills While not essential, the following qualifications and skills are highly desirable: Experience working in a school-based setting, particularly in an afterschool program Knowledge of Texas education standards and policies Experience with curriculum design, development, and implementation Strong technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite Ability to speak multiple languages, particularly Spanish Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including English language learners and students with disabilities Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Del Valle ISD, we are committed to supporting the professional growth and development of our staff.
