About the Role
We are currently seeking experienced and dedicated law enforcement professionals to fill the positions of Deputy City Marshal and Corrections Officer. As a Deputy City Marshal, you will be responsible for enforcing state statutes, city ordinances, and other city regulations on any real property owned, leased, or under the control of the City of Las Vegas. You will also have the opportunity to work in a variety of settings, including our newly opened substation at 420 E. Fremont St., Suite 150, which is jointly operated by the Department of Public Safety, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, and Fremont Street Experience security.
As a Corrections Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining custody and control of inmates being detained in the City's detention facilities, enforcing laws and departmental regulations that apply to detention and corrections, and providing a safe and secure environment for inmates, staff, and visitors. Our corrections team is dedicated to providing exceptional care and services to those in our custody, and we are seeking individuals who share our commitment to rehabilitation, restorative justice, and community safety.

Key Responsibilities

Enforce local and state traffic laws, pursue individuals observed committing criminal acts, issue citations, and arrest individuals pursuant to a warrant
Remove abandoned vehicles, serve warrants, pursue and arrest felons, aid victims of crime, secure crime scenes, and protect other officers and members of the public
Maintain custody and control of inmates, enforce laws and departmental regulations, and provide a safe and secure environment for inmates, staff, and visitors
Participate in physical fitness preparation sessions, including Saturday workouts, to maintain a high level of physical fitness and readiness
Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies, community organizations, and stakeholders to promote public safety, prevent crime, and address community concerns


Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications:

Be at least 21 years of age at the time of job offer
Be a United States citizen at the time of job offer
Have a high school diploma or equivalent to graduation from high school
Have a valid driver's license and maintain it throughout your employment
Have no conviction of a felony in the state of Nevada, or any offense which would be considered a felony if committed in the state of Nevada
Have no conviction of any crime for which you were required to register and/or a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence including use or attempted use of physical force
Have no conviction of unlawful use, sale, or possession of a controlled substance


Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

One year of work experience in law enforcement or a related field
A Bachelor's degree in any field
Experience working in a corrections or detention setting
Knowledge of law enforcement procedures, protocols, and best practices
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits

Entry pay: $57,682 (Deputy City Marshal), $62,825 (Corrections Officer)
Top pay: $92,350 (Deputy City Marshal), $97,684 (Corrections Officer)
Shift differential pay: 4% (swing), 6% (grave)
