About the Role We are seeking an experienced Java Software Engineer to join our team at Loyalty Partner Solutions. Key Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and support JAVA-based customer solution software for our customers and bring it live Design and implement automated test cases to ensure a high degree of automation Take care of Continuous Delivery to see your code in production as quickly as possible Communicate your solution ideas effectively so that everyone can understand them Implement features that customers expect, aligned with the Product Owner Analyze bugs, deliver bug fixes in the existing software, and perform maintenance tasks Participate in on-call duty to cover the time gap between the US and Europe Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you should have: 3+ years of experience as a Java Software Developer, including experience with large systems and high transaction volumes A strong understanding of our customer domain to find the best solutions for our customer needs A willingness to actively drive topics, always having the goal in mind and accepting challenges A DevOps mindset (ship it as you would run it) Experience working in an international team and enjoying collaboration with others An agile mindset and a willingness to support other disciplines if needed for team success A good understanding of databases (Oracle or Postgres) and how to influence and increase performance Willingness to adapt to timezone needs for a project and participate in on-call duty to close the time gap between Europe and the US Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following skills and experiences are preferred: Experience with cloud-based systems (AWS or equivalent) Proficiency with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL) Knowledge of Maven, Jenkins, and Git Experience with Continuous Delivery and automated testing Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you should possess the following skills and competencies: Strong Java programming skills and experience with Java-based technologies such as Spring, SpringBoot, and Hibernate Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At American Express, we are committed to helping our colleagues grow and develop in their careers.
