Job Overview We are seeking an experienced International Freight Forwarding Specialist to join our team at blithequark. As a subject matter expert in ocean product development and strategy implementation, you will play a critical role in driving the growth of our ocean volumes, enhancing our service offerings, and supporting our sales and operations teams. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with our senior leadership, including the Managing Director of Ocean, and contribute to the development of our ocean strategy, pricing programs, and carrier relationships. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement strategies to increase ocean volumes, maximize competitiveness, and enhance service quality, while ensuring adherence to our preferred network and minimizing risk exposure. Support carrier development, pricing, and performance analysis, as well as resolve carrier service issues and communicate with internal and external stakeholders. Collaborate with our sales and operations teams to ensure compliance with policies and procedures, achieve volume targets, and enhance service quality. Conduct regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon KPIs are being met or exceeded, and provide recommendations for improvement. Assist in gathering, analyzing, and reporting information regarding performance and competitive activity, and submit reports as required. Work closely with our marketing team to develop external and internal communications specific to the ocean product, and promote our ocean services to customers and stakeholders. Manage our annual budget, control and monitor results, and report on a regular basis to achieve budget targets. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with at least 8 years of experience in the international freight forwarding industry, including direct ocean experience in working with ocean contracts, negotiating ocean rates, quoting ocean rates, analyzing ocean rates, and routing. Prior ocean carrier experience is a plus, as well as familiarity with Microsoft Office applications. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex information to internal and external stakeholders. Strong business acumen, with a business-oriented approach and remarkable leadership skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong focus on results, teamwork, and customer satisfaction. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred: Experience working with global trade lane teams, sales, and operations to communicate direction and deliverables. Knowledge of industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activity, with the ability to analyze and interpret data to inform business decisions. Experience with budget management, financial analysis, and reporting, with a strong focus on achieving budget targets and driving growth.
