Job Overview and Responsibilities
The Insurance and Billing Representative II position is a critical component of our revenue cycle operations. As an Insurance Services Representative, you will be responsible for the collection and resolution of outstanding insurance receivables, including unpaid, denied, and underpaid claims. Your expertise in communicating effectively with insurance companies, patients, and internal stakeholders will be essential in resolving complex billing issues. You will work closely with our team to ensure accurate and efficient handling of high claim volumes, displaying quality and productive work habits, and serving as a resource for management and colleagues.

Collect and resolve outstanding insurance receivables, including unpaid, denied, and underpaid claims
Communicate effectively with insurance companies, patients, and internal stakeholders to resolve complex billing issues
Accurately and efficiently handle high claim volumes, meeting productivity and quality standards
Display intermediate knowledge of department operations and serve as a resource for management and level I co-workers
Perform duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards


Essential Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, you will need:

High School Degree or Equivalent
At least 1 year of experience in revenue cycle or a related field, with a strong understanding of insurance billing and claims resolution
EPIC Resolute Hospital Billing or Ambulatory experience is highly desirable
Basic communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
Basic Microsoft Excel and Word knowledge, with proficiency in computer and keyboarding skills


Preferred Qualifications and Skills
While not required, the following qualifications and skills are highly desirable:

Advanced knowledge of insurance billing and claims resolution, including familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards
Experience with electronic health records (EHRs) and practice management systems
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex billing issues
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
