Experienced Hospital Medicare Biller - National Remote Opportunity

About the Role
This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within the U.S. You'll be part of a talented team dedicated to improving health outcomes and driving success in the healthcare industry. As a Hospital Medicare Biller, you'll play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely billing, following up on outstanding claims, and resolving complex issues with Medicare.
Primary Responsibilities
Billing according to Medicare guidelines, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
Follow up directly with Medicare regarding outstanding claims, resolving issues and negotiating payments
Filing appeals directly with Medicare, advocating for the organization and ensuring fair reimbursement
Perform research on various computer systems, documenting customer information and payment expectations
Contact customers via mail, email, and phone to discuss and resolve outstanding medical bill accounts and balances
Obtain agreement on potential balance payoff and/or payment terms within stated level of authority and guideline limits
Prepare and submit reports to internal management on status of outstanding medical bills and proposed/planned payment settlement details
Record correspondence information within relevant collection systems, maintaining accurate records and ensuring data integrity
Demonstrate strong working knowledge of all areas related to the resolution of Medicare accounts and regulatory requirements
Apply knowledge of Coordination of Benefits relative to primary versus secondary payers according to contractual and governmental guidelines
Required Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
A High School Diploma or GED
At least 1 year of Hospital billing experience, with direct billing for the hospital/facility
Experience billing Medicare directly for a hospital or facility
Experience using a UB04 form to bill
Excellent computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and navigation, mouse, and keyboarding skills
Ability to work Monday - Friday, in any of our 8-hour shift schedules during normal business hours (6:00am - 6:00pm PST)
Must be 18 years of age or older
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications can give you a competitive edge:
Experience with Medicare claim follow-up
Working knowledge of EPIC
Telecommuting Requirements
As a remote worker, you'll need to:
Keep all company-sensitive documents secure
Establish a dedicated work area that's separate from other living areas and provides information privacy
Have a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group-approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service
Soft Skills
To excel in this role, you'll need:
The ability to work tactfully and professionally with patients, family members, hospital staff, medical staff, and outside payers
Strong problem-solving, multitasking, and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with payers
Adherence to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy
