**Experienced Full-Time Evening and Weekend Writer – Black Culture, Entertainment, and Lifestyle Content Creation**

We're seeking a highly motivated and skilled Evening and Weekend Writer to join our expanding news and editorial team, driving success through their expertise and passion for storytelling. Job Summary We're looking for a talented writer who can find the pulse of must-read stories and viral moments in entertainment and trending events, with a deep understanding of Black culture and its impact on the world. As a full-time Evening and Weekend Writer, you'll be responsible for identifying and writing engaging news articles, self-editing and reviewing content for accuracy, and sharing live articles on our social media platforms. If you're a self-starter with sound editorial judgment, a flair for storytelling, and a passion for Black culture, we want to hear from you. Key Responsibilities Identify trending topics and/or viral moments in Black culture, entertainment, and more : Stay on top of the latest news and trends in the entertainment industry, with a focus on Black culture and its impact on the world. Write and self-publish engaging and timely news articles with clean copy and strong headlines : Craft compelling stories that capture the essence of our audience and spark online conversation around topics that matter. Self-edit and review news content for accuracy, errors, verified sources, and relevance : Ensure that our content meets the highest standards of editorial excellence, with a focus on accuracy, fairness, and relevance. Share live articles on VIBE's Facebook and Twitter accounts : Stay connected with our audience and share our content on social media platforms to drive engagement and reach a wider audience. Consistently and dependently maintain a consistently high editorial standard while delivering exceptional and informative content to our audience : Meet deadlines, manage multiple projects, and maintain a high level of quality in all aspects of your work. Work from Wednesdays through Sundays, with occasional special events coverage : Be flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to work outside of regular business hours to cover special events and breaking news. Qualifications We're looking for a writer with a strong background in news writing and editing, with a passion for Black culture and entertainment. If you have the following qualifications, we want to hear from you: 2+ years of experience as an editor and news writer : Proven track record of writing engaging news articles and editing content for accuracy and relevance. An active social media user who enjoys staying on top of entertainment news : Stay connected with our audience and share our content on social media platforms to drive engagement and reach a wider audience. A strong understanding of breaking news protocol and SEO best practices : Stay up-to-date on the latest trends and best practices in news writing and SEO. A solid understanding of the Associated Press Stylebook and WordPress : Familiarity with AP Style and WordPress is essential for this role. Familiarity with Canva and/or Photoshop is a plus : Experience with graphic design and photo editing software is a bonus.
