About the Role
As a Full Stack Software Engineer on the CXD team, you will play a crucial role in designing and building systems that aggregate and serve data at scale to support the content viewing experiences for Disney Streaming services. You will work closely with engineering and product teams to understand their goals, conceptualize solutions, and lead the implementation of your designs. Your expertise in software development, system design, and cloud infrastructure will be essential in driving the success of our team.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with engineering and product teams to understand their goals and objectives
Design and develop scalable systems that meet the targets of Disney Streaming services
Model solutions that validate your ideas and provide detailed RFCs for feedback
Lead engineering teams through the implementation of your designs and provide guidance on best practices
Define and evolve operational models to support highly available and performant systems
Advocate for cross-team projects and mentor junior engineers to ensure industry best practices are followed
Work closely with product management, technical program management, operations, and other engineering teams to capture requirements, drive execution, and provide transparency
Essential Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related field of study
Strong programming skills in Java and other object-oriented languages
Profound understanding of computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, databases, etc.)
Experience designing and building multi-system, cross-team event-driven systems models (reactive design)
Profound experience building and managing services on AWS
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to advocate for cross-team projects
Experience working with distant global teams and an adaptable schedule across various time regions
Preferred Qualifications
Cloud-native system design experience
Experience delivering and scaling within a cloud infrastructure
Profound experience with responsive programming on JVM languages, preferably Java
Experience as a service owner with experience creating and managing observability systems
Familiarity with streaming platforms like Kafka, Kinesis, or Flink
Hands-on experience managing AWS services with specific experience using Terraform or other IAC tools
Experience building and managing distributed NoSQL data stores like DynamoDB, Cassandra, Scylla, and Couchbase
