Job Description As a Senior Data Engineer at Blithequark, you will be responsible for: Designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale data systems, including data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes Evaluating new technologies and participating in decision-making, considering factors like feasibility, practicality, and cost of ownership Leading the design, lifecycle management, and total cost of ownership for data systems and applications Leading and directing code reviews, design reviews, testing, and troubleshooting exercises at the application level Providing technical oversight and mentoring others to resolve complex technical issues Leading disaster recovery exercises and contributing to disaster recovery planning Implementing data quality protocols throughout data acquisition, processing, storage, and operational use Key Responsibilities Technical Expertise Utilizing your technical expertise to apply and maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies within specific areas of the technology space Assessing new technologies and participating in decision-making, representing various factors like feasibility, practicality, and cost of ownership Initiating and executing research and proof-of-concept exercises for new technologies Data Engineering Designing and implementing data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes to support business growth and data-driven decision-making Working with large volumes and varieties of data in a production environment Developing and maintaining high-performance, scalable, and secure data systems Collaboration and Leadership Leading and directing code reviews, design reviews, testing, and troubleshooting exercises at the application level Providing technical oversight and mentoring others to resolve complex technical issues Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive business growth and improve data quality Requirements Essential Qualifications 4-year degree or equivalent experience 5+ years of experience in application and data pipeline development 5+ years of experience working with large volumes and varieties of data in a production environment 5+ years of experience working with Big Data technologies, such as Hadoop, Apache Spark, Spark Streaming, Oozie, and Hive Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Scala, Python, Java Proficiency in at least one of the following monitoring tools: Kibana, Grafana Experience with designing and implementing high-performance, scalable, and secure solutions with broad impact Preferred Qualifications Experience in performance tuning data pipelines and data platforms Experience in automated testing and various testing frameworks (e.g., JUnit) Experience integrating with REST APIs and cloud technologies (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services) Knowledge of streaming solutions (e.g., Kafka) Familiarity with containerization (e.g., Docker) Familiarity with DevOps tools, processes, and culture (e.g., Drone, Jenkins, Git) Experience working with a source control tool (e.g., Git) Exposure to Agile concepts and methodologies What We Offer Compensation and Benefits Blithequark offers a competitive compensation package, including: Salary range: $85,500 - $153,900 per year Comprehensive medical benefits and programs 401(k) plan Employee discounts Short-term and long-term disability insurance Paid sick leave and paid time off Career Growth and Learning At Blithequark, we're committed to helping our employees grow and develop their skills.
