Job Overview We're seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our Data Ventures team. As a Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will dive into our vast amounts of data to help unleash the power of retail data science. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines that our Data Scientists and Analysts can rely on. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Data Researchers, Investigators, and other engineers, to solve complex and exciting challenges that will help us evolve the retail business model while having a positive impact on our customers' lives. Key Responsibilities Data Transformation and Integration: Concentrate data from identified databases, create data pipelines, and transform data into a structure relevant to the problem by selecting appropriate methodologies. Data Source Identification: Support the understanding of the need for requirements and service-level agreements, identify the most suitable source for data that is fit for purpose, and perform initial data quality checks on extracted data. Data Modeling: Investigate complex data elements, systems, data streams, conditions, and relationships to contribute to conceptual, physical, and logical data models. Develop the Logical Data Model and Physical Data Models, including data warehouse and data lake designs. Code Development and Testing: Write code to develop the necessary solution and application features by determining the appropriate programming language and using business, technical, and data requirements. Create experiments to review and validate the proposed solution design. Applied Business Acumen: Provide recommendations to business stakeholders to address complex business problems, create business cases for projects with an expected return on investment or cost savings, and translate business requirements into tasks, activities, and tasks that align with the overall business process. Data Governance: Establish, align, and report data governance operations and recommendations, implement data governance practices in collaboration with business stakeholders and peers, and interpret organizational and regulatory policies on data. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you should have: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field. At least 2 years of experience in programming or a related field. Proficiency in Hadoop, Spark, Cloud, Python/PySpark, and Java, as well as experience with streaming, Kafka, and backend development. Experience with data modeling and data migration protocols. Familiarity with GCP, data warehousing, and BI is preferred. Experience with integration tools like Automic, Windstream, and building highly scalable Big Data solutions and ETL ecosystems. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Knowledge of Data Bricks is an additional benefit. Hands-on experience with NoSQL like Cosmos DB, alongside RDBMS like MySQL, Postgres, is a plus. Experience working with any messaging platform like Kafka is preferred. Ability to increase the efficiency of the team by fixing Cycles of Software Development, Requirement Gathering, Effort Assessment. Demonstrated innovative, decisive thinking and problem-solving skills. Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you should possess: Strong programming skills in languages like Scala, Python, or Java. Experience with cloud computing platforms like GCP, Azure, or AWS. Excellent data modeling and data migration skills. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
