About the Role: Associate Developer, IT Applications We are seeking an experienced and skilled Associate Developer to join our IT Applications team. As an Associate Developer, you will be responsible for utilizing state-of-the-art technology to solve business problems at American Airlines by participating in all stages of the development cycle from initiation through deployment. You will support the agile process and test-driven development, using object-oriented development tools to analyze, model, design, develop, and test reusable products. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with leaders, business analysts, project managers, IT architects, technical leads, and other developers, as well as internal customers, to understand needs and develop solutions according to business requirements. Maintain and enhance existing project services, applications, and platforms using domain-driven design and test-driven development. Investigate and troubleshoot complex issues; identify and implement solutions. Assist in the creation of detailed project specifications, requirements, and estimates; ensure projects and tasks are completed on time and within scope. Work with software architects to ensure design decisions meet long-term project growth needs. Support the development of coding standards and comply with best practices and security guidelines. Research and implement new technologies to improve current processes, security, and performance. Essential Qualifications and Skills: To be successful in this role, you will need: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training. At least 3 years of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience. Experience with Agile project management methodology. Demonstrated drive, flexibility, and ability to adapt to changing needs and environments. A strong desire to learn and expand the depth of knowledge. Ability to investigate complex issues and implement solutions and/or workarounds. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio). Preferred Qualifications and Skills: While not required, the following qualifications and skills are preferred: Airline industry experience, including business processes and supporting technology. Experience architecting and implementing data analysis solutions in Azure. Experience with Big Data BI solutions, including Hadoop (HDInsight/Spark), Azure SQL DW, and more. Experience in programming using C#, Python, JavaScript, or similar languages. Experience in predictive analytics (especially Azure ML).
