As a key member of our financial reporting team, you'll engage directly with our broader UHC E&I finance teams to support the financial close and internal reporting processes. This is a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, develop your skills, and contribute to the growth and success of our organization. **Primary Responsibilities** As an Accounting & Reporting Senior Accountant, you'll be responsible for: * Participating in the financial close and reporting process, including general ledger maintenance and oversight, daily tracking and analysis of segment results, and reporting to senior leaders on UHC E&I financial results * Analyzing and preparing financial statements, including balance sheets, and associated key metrics * Preparing documentation in support of external and internal audits * Resolving high-level financial reporting issues * Collaborating with other functional areas within E&I Finance / Controllership, such as Financial Planning & Analysis, Revenue, Medical Reserving, SG&A, and UHC Corporate * Developing and maintaining internal control structures and procedures for financial reporting * Preparing and analyzing internal and external reporting, ensuring the quality, reliability, and timeliness of the reports * Performing account reconciliations and analyses, preparing journal entries, and reviewing accounting classifications for Risk Adjustment processes in accordance with GAAP * Supporting various special projects as required **Essential Qualifications** To be successful in this role, you'll need: * An undergraduate degree in Accounting * At least 1 year of accounting or related finance experience * Working knowledge of GAAP and the ability to effectively use accounting knowledge to collaborate with varying levels of employees and management to drive sound business decisions * Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel * Demonstrated ability to comprehend and apply generally accepted accounting principles, and research and analyze accounting-related issues * Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously * Demonstrated ability to build and maintain solid working relationships across the organization **Preferred Qualifications** While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable: * CPA certification * Big 4 experience * Healthcare experience * Experience with Hyperion Essbase and PeopleSoft Financials * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities **Skills and Competencies** To succeed in this role, you'll need: * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities * Strong attention to detail and organizational skills * Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously * Strong technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and GAAP **Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits** As a member of our team, you'll have access to a range of career growth opportunities and learning benefits, including: * Professional development programs and training opportunities * Mentorship and coaching from experienced professionals * Opportunities for advancement and career growth * Access to cutting-edge technology and tools * Collaborative and dynamic work environment **Work Environment and Company Culture** We're committed to creating a work environment that's inclusive, diverse, and supportive.
