Job Overview The Forklift Operator II role is a critical position within our organization, responsible for ensuring the efficient movement of materials throughout our facility and grounds. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be expected to operate a variety of material handling equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks, to load, unload, and move assets with precision and care. With a starting pay rate of $20.00 per hour and a schedule of 1 pm to finish, this is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to join a dynamic team and take their career to the next level. Key Responsibilities Pull specific vending and cold drink equipment to fulfill sales request needs, ensuring timely and accurate delivery to our customers. Ensure all outbound loads are secured and safe, applying protective wrapping as needed, and attach proper documentation to guarantee compliance with company standards. Load and unload trailers as needed, following established SOPs to ensure accuracy and update SAP and CONA systems via handheld devices for accountability of inbound and outbound loads. Perform all safety and housekeeping activities, including pre- and post-trip checks, reviewing daily documentation for accuracy, and maintaining a neat and clutter-free work area. Assist with staging equipment and other movements, including junking equipment and yard maintenance, to support the overall efficiency of our operations. Utilize a switcher to maneuver 53' and pup trailers to the dock as needed, demonstrating expertise in operating complex equipment. Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must possess the following essential qualifications: Forklift and pallet jack certification, with advanced forklift skills (single-wide) and the ability to operate forklifts safely and efficiently in a small area. Switcher operation certification, demonstrating expertise in operating complex equipment. Class A CDL where required, with a strong understanding of truck and trailer loading strategies and weight distribution principles. Working knowledge of basic safety principles, including proper lifting and use of personal protective equipment. Basic mechanical skills and simple tool usage, with the ability to operate multiple pieces of simple machinery. Strong communication skills, with the ability to read and follow written SOPs or instructions and complete forms (handwritten and computer-based) to document activities and results. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred: Previous experience in a logistics environment, with a thorough understanding of elements contributing to productivity and the ability to assess order building, loading workflow, and choose the optimum pick and load path. Understanding of truck and trailer loading strategies and weight distribution principles, with the ability to consistently count received and compare to manifest with a high degree of accuracy. Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you will require the following skills and competencies: Advanced forklift skills, with the ability to operate forklifts safely and efficiently in a small area. Basic pallet-jack skills, with the ability to operate multiple pieces of simple machinery. Rudimentary mechanical skills and simple tool usage, with the ability to read and follow written SOPs or instructions. Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and provide excellent customer service. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to lift over 25 lbs. and occasionally up to or over 50 lbs., with frequent getting on and off a forklift and opening and closing truck dock doors.
