Job Overview We are seeking an experienced and skilled Faculty Member to teach coursework, develop curriculum, and provide training and student support in our Computer Aided Drafting Program at both Associate and Bachelor levels. As a key member of our team, you will work effectively to support the PTC mission, upholding the characteristics of professional communication, diversity, integrity, leadership, stewardship, respect, and accountability. Key Responsibilities Assist in bachelor and associate degree curriculums and provide training and student support, resulting in graduates who meet entry and mid-level employment criteria for positions in the Computer Aided Drafting fields. Teach up to 5 class-sections with 1 - 3 preparations per week, performing effectively in the learning environment by being prepared, maintaining discipline, and engaging students in the learning process. Address student academic issues such as student attendance, student persistence, and/or tutoring needs, working in conjunction with student advisors and academic leaders to resolve students' nonacademic issues. Maintain student course records in the Student Information System (SIS) to accurately reflect student progress, using PTC's Learning Management System (LMS) to provide course/supplemental materials and communicate with students. Serve as a role model for the students by demonstrating an excellent work ethic, portraying professionalism, and providing motivation for industry success, staying current on industry, market, research, and competitive trends. Participate in approved professional development each year, as discussed and agreed upon with your Academic Chair, at a minimum of 8 hours per year. Curriculum and Assessment Deliver program curriculum by creating and following weekly lesson plans, refreshing courses by using new teaching strategies and/or revamping course materials. Work in conjunction with the Curriculum and Assessment Coordinator and Academic Chair on course revision, curriculum mapping, and outcomes assessment, maintaining current curriculum on departmental network drives in an organized manner. Document efforts to improve student learning based on assessment results and other institutional assessment reports. Extracurricular Activities Attend all graduation activities, supporting PTC student and employee events as appropriate, which may be held on Saturdays or evenings. Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree in the field is required (Master's preferred); if the individual does not have the required degree, they must agree to complete at least 6 semester or 9 quarter credits per year toward the required degree in the field. Areas of expertise in one or more of the following: Detailing, Assembly, GD&T, Design Process, Casting & Molding, Sheet Metal. Related skill requirements: CAD/design experience in the mechanical industry, software experience preferred but not required: CREO, SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, Autodesk Pipe 3D. Four years of CAD-related work experience preferred, with a preference given for prior teaching experience. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in the field. Prior teaching experience in a higher education setting. Experience with curriculum development and assessment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Skills and Competencies Strong knowledge of Computer Aided Drafting principles and practices. Excellent teaching and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
