We're now seeking an Experienced ESL Pashtu Speaking School Campus Mentor to be part of our dynamic team in Houston, Texas, and contribute to the success of our students. About the Role As an ESL Pashtu Speaking School Campus Mentor, you will play a pivotal role in our ESL Campus Immersion Program, working closely with students, teachers, and parents to ensure academic success. This is a contract position available from October 10, 2023, to May 2024, with a potential for extension. You'll be working Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Key Responsibilities Provide one-on-one academic support to students in various subjects, leveraging your Pashtu language skills to facilitate understanding. Translate and communicate student needs and teacher feedback to parents, and parent feedback to teachers as necessary. Mentor elementary, middle, or high school-aged students, adapting your approach to their diverse backgrounds and needs. Work with up to 15 students at a time, managing your time effectively to meet their academic requirements. Utilize your technological savvy to maintain records, communicate with the team, and access resources on platforms like Slack and Google Sheets/Excel. Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must: Reside in the Houston, Texas area. Be eligible to work in the United States and possess a valid Social Security Number. Be committed to the duration of the assignment and potentially beyond. Have reliable transportation and be punctual for in-person tutoring sessions. Pass a background check. Be bilingual and fluent in Pashtu. Own a computer and be proficient in using digital tools for communication and organization. Preferred Qualifications While not mandatory, the following qualifications can enhance your application: A college graduate (Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree) or a college student with at least 60 credit hours. Experience in mentoring, tutoring, or translating in a classroom or school environment. Skilled in any grade level of Math, Science, Social Studies, or Reading. A history of working with students learning to speak English.
