We're seeking an experienced Environmental Planner and Project Manager (EPM) to join our team on a remote basis, primarily serving clients in California. A Day in the Life of an Environmental Planner and Project Manager As an Environmental Planner and Project Manager (EPM) at Montrose, you'll play a pivotal role in managing environmental planning projects for our clients, primarily a major utility company and other clients based in southern California. You'll work closely with our Senior Associate and other team members to prepare and review documents, technical reports, and project schedules, ensuring seamless project execution from inception to completion. Key Responsibilities Prepare and review documents, technical reports, and project schedules to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements. Manage environmental compliance for projects of varying scales, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations and client expectations. Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion. Review and interpret engineering drawings, preparing project descriptions and ensuring alignment with client needs. Track and manage projects through all phases, utilizing program/project management tools and techniques. Exercise safe work practices, adhering to Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, and participate in required safety training programs. Contribute to the Company's continuous improvement programs, providing support to team efforts and suggesting process enhancements. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments through formal training, professional publications, and workshops. Develop and maintain proficiency in CEQA and NEPA processes, or demonstrate a willingness to acquire such expertise. Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to team success. Your Expertise and Skills To succeed as an Environmental Planner and Project Manager at Montrose, you'll need: A Bachelor's degree in urban planning, environmental science, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred but not required. A minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience, or 5 years with a Master's degree. Knowledge of current environmental compliance and city/state development regulations. Experience with utilities projects is preferred. The ability to manage multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical, communication, writing, and organizational skills. Understanding of construction and engineering principles is preferred. Proven abilities in project management, cost estimating, and technical writing. CEQA/NEPA knowledge is highly desirable but not required. The ability to work independently, be resourceful, and demonstrate initiative. Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
