Job Overview We're looking for a skilled and dedicated Elementary Teaching Assistant to support our certified teachers in delivering high-quality instruction to students in grades K-5. As a key member of our educational team, you'll play a vital role in providing individualized support to students, helping them to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential. Key Responsibilities Provide small group instruction and support to students under the direction of a certified teacher Assist with behavior management, creating a positive and respectful learning environment Collect data and track student progress, helping to inform instruction and drive student growth Prepare lesson materials and assist with co-teaching, collaborating with teachers to deliver engaging and effective instruction Develop and maintain a positive and supportive relationship with students, teachers, and parents Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, you'll need to meet the following essential qualifications: Proper Connecticut teaching certification (Elementary Education) preferred In-depth knowledge and understanding of teaching reading at the primary level Experience working with students in a educational setting, preferably in reading and mathematics remediation Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents Ability to work within a tight schedule, remaining highly organized and focused on delivering high-quality support to students Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Experience with data collection and analysis, using data to inform instruction and drive student growth Knowledge of evidence-based instructional strategies and interventions, particularly in reading and mathematics Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities or English language learners What We Offer As an Elementary Teaching Assistant with Avon Public Schools, you'll enjoy a range of benefits and opportunities, including: A competitive hourly rate of $20 per hour A part-time schedule of 15-20 hours per week, offering a great work-life balance Opportunities for professional growth and development, including training and coaching A supportive and collaborative work environment, with a team of dedicated educators and professionals Our Culture and Work Environment At Avon Public Schools, we're proud of our inclusive and supportive culture, where every individual feels valued and respected.
