Job Summary As a Tutor in our Temporary Pool, you will work with students in a specific academic discipline, providing individualized support and guidance to help them achieve their academic goals. You will be responsible for coaching students, encouraging them to take ownership of their learning, and providing constructive feedback on their assignments. Key Responsibilities Provide individualized tutoring support to students in a specific academic discipline Coach students to take responsibility for their own learning and academic success Offer constructive feedback on assignments, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement Assist with front desk reception and clerical projects, as needed Contribute to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment in the Tutoring Center Meet with students based on their schedule, which may include remote meetings Be committed to SFCC's mission to empower students and strengthen the community Perform other related duties as assigned Essential Qualifications Associate's degree or higher in the field to be tutored One year of work experience in a related field (or equivalent) Completion of the course to be tutored at SFCC within the last three semesters with an 'A' grade Referrals from SFCC faculty Average GPA of 3.4 or higher in all coursework Tutoring experience (preferred) Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in the field to be tutored Experience working with diverse student populations Knowledge of learning strategies and assessment techniques Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Skills and Competencies Strong knowledge of the academic discipline to be tutored Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work with students at various levels of academic preparedness Flexibility and adaptability in meeting with students at various times Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At SFCC, we are committed to supporting the professional growth and development of our employees.
