About the Data Platform Teams The Data Platform teams are responsible for building and maintaining the centralized data platforms and tools that are pivotal to Netflix's operational and analytical data needs. The teams are organized into several focus areas, including Big Data Warehouse and Iceberg, Online Data Stores, and Data Movement Platform - Connectors. Each of these areas is critical to ensuring that Netflix's data infrastructure is robust, scalable, and capable of meeting the demands of a rapidly growing and evolving business. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and operate large-scale distributed systems that are fault-tolerant, scalable, and highly available. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, product managers, and technical program managers, to lead initiatives that drive business outcomes. Apply software engineering and analytical problem-solving skills to solve real business needs at scale. Contribute to the development of RESTful web services and work with Java or other object-oriented programming languages. Engage with multi-threading challenges and develop solutions that optimize performance and efficiency. Essential and Preferred Qualifications To succeed in this role, you should have: A minimum of 2+ years of experience in building large-scale distributed systems features or applications. Proficiency in the design and development of RESTful web services. Experience in building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed systems. Strong background in Java or other object-oriented programming languages. Comfort with multi-threading challenges and the ability to develop efficient solutions. A BS in Computer Science or a related field. Preferred qualifications include experience with data stores such as EVCache, Redis, Hollow, RDS, Aurora, CockroachDB, Opensearch, and technologies like Spark, Kafka, and Flink. Familiarity with data movement platforms and connectors is also desirable.
