Job Summary and Key Responsibilities The Program Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program, including administration, planning, continuous review, development, and evaluation. This leadership role requires a unique blend of administrative, teaching, and communication skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and healthcare facilities. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the sonography field, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for educational leadership. Develop and implement a strategic plan for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program, aligning with the institution's mission and goals. Provide leadership and vision for the creation and implementation of program curricula, outcomes, and student learning objectives. Collaborate with faculty to develop, assess, and revise program curricula, ensuring relevance and effectiveness. Interact with community groups, local school districts, and business and industry partners to understand their training needs and foster partnerships. Assist in the development and writing of proposals and reports to NYSED, ACCSC, and CAAHEP, ensuring compliance with accreditation requirements. Provide recommendations for the employment, assignment, evaluation, and professional development of program faculty. Verify and approve program faculty credentials, ensuring adherence to institutional standards. Participate in faculty and committee activities, contributing to the development of institutional policies and procedures. Review, maintain, and evaluate the program budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources. Develop, implement, and revise program policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with institutional and accreditation standards. Lead the process for systematic program review and evaluation, adopting a model that ensures continuous improvement. Establish and maintain positive partnerships with local workforce boards, economic development agencies, program advisory committees, and other stakeholders. Assist in the development of marketing and promotional strategies for the program, ensuring visibility and appeal to prospective students. Collaborate with the Clinical Coordinator, Director of Student Services, and other staff to resolve student issues and complaints, ensuring a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Essential Qualifications and Skills To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess a unique combination of educational, administrative, and technical skills, including: A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, with a registry in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS) and a valid registered diagnostic medical sonography credential in abdominal and/or OB-GYN. A minimum of four years of experience as a registered diagnostic medical sonographer, with at least two years of experience in clinical diagnostic care and two years of teaching experience in an accredited sonography program. Demonstrated knowledge of program development, evaluation, and budgeting, with experience in planning, implementation, and monitoring of program budgets in an educational environment. Excellent supervisory, administrative, communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and provide customer-focused service. Proficiency in the use of technology, including email, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software, as well as the ability to access data, maintain records, generate reports, and communicate with others. Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with students, college employees, members of the profession, and the public. Preferred Qualifications and Experience While not required, the following qualifications and experience are preferred: A master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Teaching and administrative experience in a college setting. Employment experience in business and industry. Certification in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS) and a valid registered diagnostic medical sonography credential in abdominal and/or OB-GYN.
