Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our team, working on distributed systems and data processing. As a Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will be responsible for designing and building core features and components of card transaction systems on a distributed platform deployed in a hybrid cloud environment. This is a individual contributor role reporting to the Head of Engineering, and you will be working closely with skilled engineers in an open, collaborative, and inclusive environment where your voice is valued, and you have the autonomy to make your own decisions on what tech to use to solve complex problems. Key Responsibilities Design and build distributed data processing and analytical systems, with a focus on performant code and high-level design. Construct detailed plans of subsystems/features, working with engineers in daily activities and assisting in code and other SDLC tasks. Build and code features, working with designers in everyday exercises and aiding in code and other SDLC tasks. Build POCs to validate new concepts and new technologies, and continually explore and learn industry-leading/innovative technologies and solutions. Lead a culture of innovation and experimentation, participate in a fun and result-oriented culture, and be forever ready to try new ideas without fear of failure. Collaborate with peer technology and development teams across various locations, and be well-versed in enabling technologies and open-source products to build low-latency distributed systems. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: 2+ years of work experience in software design and implementation using Java or Scala. Experience in data processing using Flash. Knowledge in designing, implementing, and operating any of the NoSQL databases like Cassandra, Elasticsearch. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science or Engineering. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Experience in distributed data processing and analyzing using Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Flash. Experience in distributed messaging systems like Kafka. Experience in building Microservices and Service Mesh is a plus. Experience in cloud platforms like Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift are a plus. Experience in Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and DevOps Frameworks. Experience in architecting large-scale distributed data systems considering scalability, reliability, security, performance, and flexibility. A clear understanding of different design patterns, threading, and memory models supported by the language/VM. Ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create and deliver effective presentations to Senior Management.
