As a Data Engineer at Disney, you will be part of the Disney Decision Science + Mix (DDSI) association, which supports clients across the company, including Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, and Disney Entertainment. Our team uses innovation, data analysis, optimization, statistical, and econometric modeling to investigate opportunities, shape business decisions, and drive business value.

Job Overview
The Data Engineering group is responsible for partnering with Decision Science Products, Decision Science, Client, and Technology colleagues on various development and sustainment projects, ad-hoc requests, prototyping, and research initiatives by providing data pipeline and database engineering services. As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the development and sustainment of products for our Media business, including various data engineering activities such as maintaining and improving data acquisition processes, data validation processes, ETL/ELT data pipelines, and overall process alerting strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Gather data requirements, create source-to-target mappings, and develop data validation scripts and reviews
Design, create, and monitor ETL/ELT data pipelines, and develop and execute database schema/tables/views
Produce datasets as input to science models and representations
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements
Develop and maintain automated workflows and data pipelines
Ensure data quality, integrity, and security, and troubleshoot data issues as needed


Qualifications and Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
2+ years of experience in ELT/ETL data pipeline development and maintenance
Proven expertise and skills using Python and SQL (preferably with Snowflake)
Experience with developing in a multi-environment (Dev, QA, Prod, etc.) and DEVOP practices for code management/development
Experience creating and maintaining automated work schedulers
A solid understanding of relational database design and functionality


Preferred Qualifications
To stand out as a candidate, you should have:

Experience working with large datasets and big data technologies, preferably cloud-based, such as Snowflake, Databricks, or similar
Proficiency in cloud architecture and product offerings, preferably AWS
Experience managing and deploying code using a source control product like GitLab/GitHub
Experience using Docker
