What You'll Do in This Role

As a Data Engineer at arenaflex, you'll be responsible for designing and implementing high-performance data storage solutions that minimize risk while optimizing total ownership cost throughout the system lifecycle. Your work will directly impact our ability to deliver exceptional services to millions of customers.

Key Responsibilities:


Requirements Analysis: Conduct comprehensive interviews with stakeholders to understand business requirements and conceptualize the logical organization of data structures that support our strategic objectives.
Architecture Design: Select appropriate physical environments and technical frameworks based on business requirements and arenaflex's established standards and best practices.
Data Modeling: Design physical data organizations that comprehensively cover all requirements while meeting performance service level agreements (SLAs).
Optimization: Continuously expand, streamline, and tune data architectures, loading strategies, and access patterns to ensure reduced costs and increased longevity of data solutions.
Collaboration: Work closely with applications, infrastructure, and security architects to develop comprehensive enterprise-wide data solutions.
Pipeline Development: Build and maintain robust server-side processes and data pipelines that ensure reliable data flow across the organization.
Documentation: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation for data models, architectures, and processes.


What We're Looking For

Minimum Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Minimum of seven years of combined experience in data-related roles, including positions such as Data Modeler, Data Engineer, Data Analyst, or Data QA Specialist
Comprehensive understanding of the data engineering lifecycle and familiarity with at least two data architectural methodologies
Proven ability to gather and document business requirements for data design initiatives
Advanced proficiency in SQL with the ability to write complex queries, stored procedures, and optimize database performance
Strong foundation in at least two ETL tools and scripting languages such as Python or Perl
In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with at least two different types of database/storage engines (e.g., Oracle RDBMS, Cassandra KVP, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar)
Practical experience coding server-side processes and building data pipelines
Familiarity with enterprise architecture concepts to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams


Preferred Qualifications:


Experience with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
Knowledge of big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka
Understanding of data governance and security best practices
Experience in the financial services or payments industry
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex data issues
Excellent communication skills to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
