Job Overview In this role, you will collaborate closely with data scientists and other engineers to build low-latency data products capable of driving algorithms and AI models that power our business, character streams, and more. This position is ideal for an individual with a logically inclined mind combined with a robust engineering background who can develop highly accessible and reliable distributed data systems and services to guarantee the timely delivery of high-quality data for use in the blithequark product. About the Role As a Data Engineer at blithequark, you will be responsible for: Designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale distributed data systems and services Building low-latency data products that drive algorithms and AI models Collaborating with data scientists and other engineers to identify and prioritize project requirements Ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality data for use in the blithequark product Supporting and maintaining products that run 24x7, ensuring high availability and reliability Developing and maintaining APIs and services for data access and integration Ensuring scalability, security, and compliance of data systems and services Requirements To be successful in this role, you should have: Proficiency in at least one major language, preferably on the JVM stack (e.g., Java, Scala) and SQL (any variation) A strong engineering background with experience in building distributed data systems and services Experience with large-scale data processing frameworks (batch and real-time) such as Spark, Flink, etc. Knowledge of storage solutions and experience with building APIs and services A product mindset and a strong desire to understand business requirements Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply logical and analytical thinking to complex problems Experience with supporting and maintaining products that run 24x7, ensuring high availability and reliability Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field Experience with cloud-based data systems and services Knowledge of machine learning and AI concepts and technologies Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git Strong understanding of data security and compliance principles and practices Skills and Competencies To be successful in this role, you should possess the following skills and competencies: Strong programming skills in languages such as Java, Scala, and SQL Experience with large-scale data processing frameworks and storage solutions Knowledge of APIs and services, including design, development, and maintenance Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply logical and analytical thinking to complex problems Strong understanding of data security and compliance principles and practices Career Growth and Learning Opportunities At blithequark, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
