Within the Data Science and Engineering (DSE) department, data engineers, software engineers, and business owners collaborate to build reliable, scalable data pipelines, transform raw data into core business metrics, and develop custom visualization tools that surface Customer Service insights. The Role and Responsibilities In this critical role, you will join the DSE team as a Data Engineer, working closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain large-scale data pipelines, architectures, and tools that support the Customer Service function. Your primary objective will be to ensure that data is accurately collected, processed, and analyzed to inform business decisions, drive process improvements, and enhance the overall customer experience. Key responsibilities include: Collaborating with data engineers, software engineers, and business owners to build reliable, scalable data pipelines using big data technologies such as Hive, Presto, Spark, and Flink Designing and implementing data models that are adaptable to changes in source data or business processes Developing and maintaining custom visualization tools that surface Customer Service insights and metrics Working with large-scale data sets (10s of millions of records) to transform raw data into core business metrics Ensuring data quality, integrity, and security across all data pipelines and systems Providing technical guidance and support to analysts, engineers, and business leaders on data-related matters Staying up-to-date with emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in data engineering and analytics Essential Qualifications and Skills To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications and skills: At least 4 years of experience engineering data pipelines using big data technologies on medium to large-scale data sets Strong data modeling skills, with the ability to design structures that are adaptable to changes in source data or business processes Proficiency in Python or Scala, with a passion for writing clean, supportable code Advanced SQL skills, with a strong advocacy for data quality and integrity Analytical aptitude, with the ability to think through business problems and prioritize autonomously Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams Preferred Qualifications and Skills In addition to the essential qualifications and skills, the following preferred qualifications and skills will be advantageous: Experience working with cloud-based data platforms, such as AWS or GCP Knowledge of data governance, data security, and data compliance principles Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git Experience working with data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI Strong understanding of statistical concepts and data analysis techniques Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At blithequark, we are committed to providing our employees with opportunities for growth, development, and learning. Compensation, Perks, and Benefits At blithequark, we offer a competitive compensation package that includes a salary range of $170,000 - $720,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
