Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and prepare documentation required by US Customs and other government agencies for the entry of goods into the US on behalf of importers.
Provide exceptional customer service, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
Process commodities that require specialized handling to minimize the risk of liquidated damages and penalties through accurate classification and application of duty preferences.
Determine the correct classification of goods for customs release using various resources, including databases, SOPs, tariff books, and the internet.
Perform data entry and processing of import-related documentation for submission to US Customs and other participating government agencies (PGAs).
Maintain accurate and up-to-date shipment documentation in compliance with record-keeping requirements.
Adhere to international importing and exporting regulations, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
Collaborate with internal staff, other FedEx operating companies, customers, and government agencies to deliver high-level service to customers.
Process agency brokerage shipments, handle remote filings, and perform entry reconciliations as needed.
Ensure compliance with government and organizational policies, following up on Customs matters and resolving problems.
Perform entry reviews, and other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will need:
A high school diploma or GED.
A minimum of 6 months of work experience, with 12 months of industry experience preferred.
Data entry and keyboard experience, with proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, and office equipment (phone, fax, photocopier, printer, scanner).
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with customers, carriers, brokers, government agencies, and internal staff.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to handle a high volume of work and meet time-sensitive deadlines.
Problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Knowledge of customs regulations and harmonized tariff schedules is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
A CCS and/or Brokers license.
Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Familiarity with multiple systems and reference materials.
