About the Role

As a Customer Engineer, you will be the technical expert and trusted advisor to our clients, helping them to understand the power of Google Cloud and its ability to drive business transformation. You will work closely with our Technical Outreach teams to identify and communicate the value of Google Cloud to our clients, and help them to design and implement solutions that meet their business and technical needs.

Key Responsibilities


Technical Pre-Sales Support: Identify business and technical requirements, conduct full technical discovery, and design customer solutions to meet assembled requirements.
Technical Project Leadership: Lead technical projects, technology support, support bid responses, product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work, and the coordination of supporting technical resources.
Product Messaging and Enablement: Deliver product messaging for the Google Cloud Platform by utilizing whiteboard and slide presentations, product demonstrations, white papers, trial engagements, and Request for Information (RFI) response documents.
Solution Architecture and Design: Drive recommendations on integration strategies, project designs, platforms, and application frameworks to implement a total solution providing best practice advice to customers to enhance Google Cloud platform effectiveness.
Customer Engagement: Attend customer sites, meetings, and various events as needed to build strong relationships and drive business growth.


Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:


A four-year college education in Software Engineering or comparable practical experience.
2+ years of experience as a specialized sales engineer in a cloud computing environment or a customer-facing role.
Experience with legacy and modern application development, cloud service delivery, and networking.
Experience with containers including Kubernetes and other related technologies.


Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:


Active US Government Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (TS/SCI) clearance.
Experience building scalable architectures using API management, microservice architectures, PaaS, and container orchestration frameworks, or other relevant platforms.
Experience working with Government Public Sector clients, including defense and civilian agencies.
Knowledge of application security architectures including web application security, service mesh, and mobile security methodologies.
Ability to learn, understand, and work with emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions in the Google Cloud/IT technology space.
