About the Role: Cloud Infrastructure Engineer We're seeking an experienced Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our Information Technology team. As a member of our team, you'll play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud infrastructure, ensuring the highest levels of availability, scalability, and security. This is a remote, full-time position that offers a competitive salary of $28-$40 per hour and a comprehensive benefits package. Key Responsibilities: Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure based on plans from system architects Provide expert knowledge of concepts related to server load balancing, WAS clustering, and other application scaling concepts Investigate and resolve middleware issues across development, testing, and production environments Proactively monitor local and remote data center operations and equipment, including UPSs, air conditioning, power, office security systems, and all data center processes and procedures Enable a culture of sharing and collaboration among the team Stay current with systems technology best practices and evolving technologies to maintain domain expertise and recommend improvements or changes Support communication and response processes by responding to customers on system issues, support, and system status, and advising and escalating on any delayed or significant issues Manage and maintain Windows Active Directory, including DNS and Group Policies Provide guidance to lower-level specialists and assist when and where necessary Participate in rotational on-call schedule for off-hours support Essential Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training 3 years of experience as an organization or infrastructure specialist or lead Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training 4+ years of experience as an organization or infrastructure specialist or lead Skills, Licenses, and Certifications: High-level ability to think critically for current and future business conditions, including future technology and business design changes to create flexible, adaptable solutions In-depth knowledge of IT business operations, systems requirements, and processes Demonstrated expertise in the following: Server Administration - Linux (RHEL/CentOS 7/8) and Windows (2012/2016) Infrastructure as Code - Terraform, Python, Slam, and PowerShell Cloud Technologies - Design, development, and delivery of cloud-native applications (Microsoft Azure, AWS, IBM Cloud) DevOps - CI/CD, GitHub, Artifactory, or Jenkins Containerization - Docker, Kubernetes, Cloud Foundry Server and Application Monitoring - Dynatrace, LogDNA, and SysDig Ability to analyze complex problems and implement solutions or workarounds Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently with a strong desire to learn and grow depth of knowledge Ability to thrive in an on-call environment and leverage best practices Demonstrated drive, flexibility, and ability to adapt to changing needs and environments Proficiency in Agile project management methodology, specifically within the infrastructure area Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At American Airlines, we're committed to helping our employees grow and develop in their careers.
