As a Child Care Cook and Food Specialist, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious meals and snacks for our enrolled children, maintaining a safe and healthy kitchen environment, and assisting in classrooms as needed. Key Responsibilities Create home-style, nutritional meal plans within the boundaries of our school's menu and budget, as well as state and federal requirements Prepare meals and snacks for children and staff, and distribute food to the classrooms Follow the daily menu provided by the Director, incorporating USDA, licensing, and/or health department regulations Maintain inventory of food and supplies, and order more when needed Assist in classrooms as needed as an Assistant Teacher/Floater Adapt to menu changes and meet meal and snack schedules Collaborate with the teaching team to ensure that meals and snacks are integrated into the educational program Essential Qualifications Work experience in cooking and/or food preparation for multiple individuals in a childcare facility, preferred A willingness to learn and adhere to all current state and local regulations Flexibility as to the hours and schedule of work Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion Preferred Qualifications Culinary degree or certification, or equivalent experience Experience working in a childcare or education setting Knowledge of nutrition and meal planning for young children First aid and CPR certification Bilingual or multilingual skills Skill and Competency Requirements To be successful in this role, you will need to possess excellent cooking and food preparation skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment. You will also need to be highly organized, able to prioritize tasks, and maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
