As a Big Data Engineer, you will be part of a fast-paced team that empowers cluster/real-time insightful solutions using groundbreaking technologies such as Hadoop/Big Data, Data Science/ML, Python, SQL, UNIX, and Shell Scripting. Your primary focus will be on developing innovative solutions across multiple lines of business, driving continuous improvement in code structure and quality, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional results. Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and test software applications, including refactoring code to drive continuous improvement in code structure and quality. Develop API specs, conduct code reviews, and perform testing in continuous runs or proof of concepts/automation tools. Apply visualization and other techniques to quick-track ideas and drive innovation. Collaborate as a central member of an Agile team, driving client story analysis and elaboration, design and development of software applications, testing, and build automation tools. Manage specific platforms/products or work as part of a dynamic resource pool assigned to projects based on demand and business need. Identify opportunities to adopt innovative technologies and embody a "rebel with a cause" mindset by looking beyond the obvious for continuous improvement opportunities. Essential Qualifications and Skills To be successful in this role, you should possess the following essential qualifications and skills: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; or Master's degree in Computer Applications or a related field. 2+ years of programming development experience and leading teams of engineers and Scrum teams. 2+ years of hands-on experience working with Hadoop, Hive, Spark (Core, SQL, and PySpark). Strong Data Warehousing concepts and knowledge of financial reporting environments. Expertise in distributed environments and programming using Core Java or Python/Scala. Hands-on experience with Hadoop and Spark Architecture and its working principles. Active experience in writing and understanding complex SQL (Hive/PySpark-dataframes), optimizing joins while handling vast amounts of data. Experience with UNIX shell scripting and ability to design and develop enhanced data pipelines for batch and real-time data processing. Proven ability to analyze, design, develop, test, and implement system applications and document technical and functional specifications. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of cloud platforms like GCP/AWS, building Microservices, and scalable solutions. 2+ years of experience in designing and building solutions using Kafka streams or queues. Experience with GitHub/Bitbucket and using CI/CD pipelines. Experience with NoSQL databases such as HBase, Couchbase, or MongoDB. Excellent technical and analytical skills, with strong communication and project management abilities.
