Job Overview and Responsibilities In this exciting role, you will be responsible for providing technical support and expertise in the design, development, and implementation of data engineering solutions. Your key responsibilities will include: Offering specialized assistance in the management of data engineering arrangements, including the design and deployment of data pipelines and architectures Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive business growth and revenue enhancement through data analysis and insights Monitoring and maintaining the integrity of our data engineering pipeline, using tools such as UIs, SQL, PL/SQL, Python, and Shell, with code managed in GitHub and deployed through Jenkins Participating in the development of scientific solutions and updating systems to accommodate changes, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance Testing and troubleshooting data pipelines using test and live customer data, leveraging Jenkins, Python, and Java to automate tests and parse logs to determine next actions Utilizing dashboards for Kubernetes/OpenShift to analyze high-level issues and ensure services are robust and reliable Supporting execution following go-live and working with the execution team to modify support and drive automation into routine activities Collaborating with data suppliers to clarify requirements and eliminate obstacles, driving business outcomes and revenue growth Essential Qualifications and Skills To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a strong foundation in data engineering, including: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as computer science, information technology, or engineering Knowledge of engineering science and technology, including principles, methods, procedures, and equipment used in the design and production of various goods and products Familiarity with design methods, tools, and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems Capacity to recognize new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making Skilled in identifying complex issues and navigating related data to develop and evaluate choices and implement solutions Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong, without necessarily solving the problem Capacity to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions, including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events Preferred Qualifications and Skills While not essential, the following qualifications and skills are highly desirable: Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment, with a proven ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders Familiarity with cloud-based technologies, such as AWS or Azure, and containerization using Docker Knowledge of agile development methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban, and experience working in a fast-paced, iterative development environment Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance, with experience implementing data protection and access controls Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously, with a strong focus on delivery and results Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Southwest Airlines, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees, offering a range of training and development opportunities to help you build your skills and advance your career.
