Job Highlights and Overview We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Teaching Professor of Soil Science to join our team of dedicated educators and researchers. This is a non-tenure-line, 100% teaching faculty position paid on a 48-week academic year appointment with a fixed-term (3 year), renewable contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of undergraduate courses in soil science, including Soils 071 – Environmental Sustainability, Soils 101 - Introductory Soil Science, Soils 102 – Introductory Soils Science Laboratory, and ERM 440 – Chemistry of the Environment: Soil, Water, and Air. Key Responsibilities Teach undergraduate courses in soil science, including lectures, labs, and online courses Develop and implement innovative and engaging teaching methods, including active learning approaches and hands-on lab and field experiences Mentor and advise undergraduate students, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their academic and career goals Contribute to the development and implementation of curriculum and educational programs in soil science Participate in departmental and university-wide service activities, including committee work and outreach and engagement efforts Stay current with developments in the field of soil science and incorporate new knowledge and techniques into teaching and educational programs Qualifications and Requirements To be considered for this position, applicants must hold an advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in soil science or a closely related discipline. A record of excellence in undergraduate teaching is required, and applicants who have demonstrated novel active learning approaches and shown commitment to hands-on lab and field experiences for students will be given priority. The successful candidate must have completed all degree requirements by the appointment date.
