About the Role We are seeking an experienced and passionate Substitute Teacher to join our team in Hawthorne, NJ. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students, while also gaining hands-on teaching experience on your own schedule. We offer competitive pay rates, with up to $190 for day-to-day assignments and more for long-term assignments. Key Responsibilities Teach a variety of subjects, including math, science, English, and social studies, to students of different ages and skill levels Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, adapting to the needs of each classroom and student Manage classroom behavior, maintaining a positive and respectful learning environment Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and school administrators, providing feedback and support as needed Collaborate with other educators to develop and implement curriculum, sharing best practices and expertise Participate in professional development opportunities, staying up-to-date on the latest teaching methods and technologies Essential Qualifications Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits Three professional references, with at least one from a previous direct supervisor NJ Substitute Credential Background check and TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this) Full COVID-19 vaccination A passion for education and putting students first An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be Preferred Qualifications Experience working with students of different ages and skill levels Knowledge of trauma-informed teaching, classroom management, and other educational best practices Ability to adapt to new situations and challenges, with a flexible and positive attitude Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, teachers, and school administrators What We Offer At Scoot Education, we are committed to supporting our educators every step of the way.
