About the Role We are seeking an experienced and passionate Music Teacher (K-8) to join our team of dedicated educators. As a Music Teacher, you will have the opportunity to inspire and educate students in grades K-8, helping them to develop their musical talents and appreciation for the arts. You will be responsible for creating engaging and interactive lesson plans, assessing student progress, and providing feedback and support to help students achieve their full potential. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement comprehensive music education programs for students in grades K-8 Plan and deliver engaging and interactive music lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities Assess student progress and provide feedback and support to help students achieve their full potential Collaborate with other teachers and staff members to integrate music education with other subjects and activities Participate in school concerts, performances, and other music-related events Stay up-to-date with best practices in music education and incorporate new technologies and methodologies into teaching practices Essential Qualifications: To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications: A bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field Connecticut State Certification in Music Education (049, Music Pre-K - 12) Experience teaching music to students in grades K-8 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents from diverse backgrounds Strong organizational and time management skills Preferred Qualifications: While not essential, the following preferred qualifications will be highly regarded: A master's degree in Music Education or a related field Experience with music technology and software Ability to play multiple musical instruments Experience with curriculum development and implementation Leadership experience or experience in a mentorship role Skills and Competencies: To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Strong musical knowledge and skills Excellent teaching and communication skills Ability to work effectively in a team environment Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities Commitment to ongoing professional development and growth Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits: At New Haven Public Schools, we are committed to supporting the ongoing professional development and growth of our teachers.
