About the Position The successful candidate will be responsible for providing special education instruction in English Language Arts to middle school students. A key aspect of this position is the ability to teach the comprehensive curriculum while accommodating the individual needs of students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Key Responsibilities Develop and deliver specialized instruction in English Language Arts to middle school students with diverse learning needs. Create and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the individual needs of students with IEPs. Integrate technology into daily classroom instruction to enhance student learning and engagement. Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment. Assess student progress, identify areas of improvement, and develop strategies to support student growth. Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders to ensure a collaborative approach to student education. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices in special education and ELA instruction. Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, candidates must possess the following essential qualifications: Delaware Advanced License, Delaware Continuing License, or Delaware Initial License. Certification in Core Content and Special Education. A strong understanding of ELA curriculum and instructional strategies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues. Strong organizational and time management skills. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Experience in teaching special education, particularly in an inclusive classroom setting. Knowledge of assistive technology and its application in the classroom. Familiarity with curriculum design and implementation. Experience with progress monitoring and data-driven instruction. Bilingual or multilingual skills.
