About the Role We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Elementary Teacher - Kindergarten to join our team at Springdale Elementary School. As an Elementary Teacher, you will play a critical role in shaping the minds of our young students, helping them develop a strong foundation in reading, writing, and mathematics, and fostering a love of learning that will last a lifetime. This is a remote position, offering a flexible and comfortable work environment that allows you to focus on what matters most - teaching and inspiring our students. Key Responsibilities Demonstrate facility in the skills of reading, writing, and mathematics, and help students develop a strong foundation in these areas Plan instruction to achieve selected objectives, including those appropriate for exceptional students, and effectively implement instructional plans using a variety of techniques and materials Effectively communicate with students, parents, and colleagues, and establish a positive learning environment that promotes student engagement and motivation Help students develop positive self-concepts, and facilitate the independence of each student as a learner Effectively assess student needs and progress, and use data to inform instruction and make adjustments as needed Establish a positive and supportive relationship with parents and the community, and encourage cooperative involvement and support Qualifications and Requirements To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a valid Connecticut teacher certificate in 013-Elementary, K-6; 305-Elementary, 1-6, and demonstrate excellence in teaching the subject area(s) and/or instructional levels targeted. You should also have evidence of ability to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers, and educational assistants, and possess superior communication skills (oral and written). Essential Qualifications A valid Connecticut teacher certificate in 013-Elementary, K-6; 305-Elementary, 1-6 Demonstrated excellence in teaching the subject area(s) and/or instructional levels targeted Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers, and educational assistants Superior communication skills (oral and written) Preferred Qualifications Dual certification in TESOL, Bilingual Education, or ESL, with experience in Sheltered Instruction or fluency in a language other than English Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and with varying learning needs Knowledge of and/or ability to learn and implement various technologies, including Operating Systems, Office suites, Presentation Software, Spreadsheets, Communication and Collaboration tools, and Student Information Systems Skills and Competencies To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a range of skills and competencies, including: Technical Skills Knowledge of Operating Systems (i.e. Windows) Knowledge of Office suites (i.e. Microsoft Office, Google Docs) Knowledge of Presentation Software (i.e. PowerPoint, Keynote) Knowledge of Spreadsheets (i.e. Excel, Google Spreadsheets) Knowledge of Communication and Collaboration tools (i.e. Skype) Soft Skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively in a team environment Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Stamford Public Schools, we are committed to supporting the ongoing learning and professional development of our teachers.
