Job Overview We are looking for an experienced and dedicated 5th Grade Teacher to fill a temporary position (1.0 FTE) at our Witch Hazel Elementary School. As a 5th Grade Teacher, you will be responsible for promoting and developing successful learning for your students, performing instructional and related duties in accordance with District policies and terms of the teacher contract. You will also maintain a cooperative attitude with staff, parents, and students, and work harmoniously with others to create a positive and productive learning environment. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver high-quality instruction to 5th-grade students, aligned with state and national standards Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet the needs of all learners Communicate effectively with parents and guardians through regular updates, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement school-wide initiatives and programs Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, attendance, and other relevant information Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in education and enhance your teaching skills Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications: A valid State of Oregon Teaching License with the correct endorsement for 5th-grade teaching A minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively work and communicate with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures and/or backgrounds Proficient in the use of computer and Internet-based applications, including but not limited to email and systems applications Ability to learn new automated systems as they are brought online by the District Strong relationship-building and classroom management skills, with the ability to maintain a positive and respectful learning environment Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following preferred qualifications will be considered an asset: Experience teaching 5th grade or similar grade levels Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation Experience with technology integration in the classroom Bilingual or multilingual skills Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and abilities Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Strong instructional and planning skills, with the ability to develop and implement engaging lesson plans Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze problems and develop effective solutions Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Hillsboro School District, we are committed to supporting the ongoing growth and development of our teachers. Compensation, Perks, and Benefits We offer a competitive salary range of $50,674.00 - $104,499.00 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
