Job Overview and Key Responsibilities As a Ramp Agent at blithequark, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our airport ground handling services. Your primary responsibilities will include safely lifting, loading, unloading, and transporting baggage, mail, and cargo to and from aircraft, as well as guiding incoming and departing aircraft from gate positions. You will also be responsible for operating ground equipment, such as tugs, belt loaders, and tow tractors, and using baggage scanners and computers to ensure accurate routing of baggage to customers' destinations. Some of your daily tasks will include: Safely lifting, loading, unloading, and transporting baggage, mail, and cargo to and from aircraft Safeguarding cargo, baggage, and mail from damage, loss, and weather Operating ground equipment, such as tugs, belt loaders, and tow tractors, in areas of congestion Using baggage scanners and computers to ensure accurate routing of baggage to customers' destinations Guiding incoming and departing aircraft from gate positions Work Schedule and Environment As a Ramp Agent at blithequark, you can expect to work a variety of shifts, including early morning, afternoon, and overnight shifts. Your schedule will be based on operational needs, and you can expect to work between 20 and 40 hours per week, depending on your seniority. You will be required to work in a fast-paced airport environment, which may involve exposure to harsh weather conditions, such as heat, rain, and snow. Essential Qualifications To be successful as a Ramp Agent at blithequark, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications: High school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency At least 18 years of age and authorization to work in the United States Valid driver's license Proficiency in English Ability to pass a physical ability test (PAT) Ability to wear required company-approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Ability to hold airport-specific requirements, such as a SIDA Badge and Customs Seal Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following preferred qualifications will give you a competitive edge in the selection process: Previous experience in a related field, such as customer service or logistics Knowledge of airport operations and ground handling procedures Ability to work effectively in a team environment Skills and Competencies To succeed as a Ramp Agent at blithequark, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Strong communication and customer service skills Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment Basic computer skills and ability to use baggage scanners and computers Ability to lift, bend, and stand for long periods Ability to work effectively in a team environment Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At blithequark, we are committed to helping our employees grow and develop in their careers.
