About the Opportunity As an AI STEM Writing Coach with Outlier, you'll play a crucial role in training generative artificial intelligence models by leveraging your expertise in STEM disciplines and English writing. This remote freelance opportunity offers flexible hours, allowing you to work at your convenience. You'll contribute to the development of cutting-edge AI models by: Reading and evaluating English text to rank AI-generated responses based on relevance, accuracy, and coherence Writing and rewriting prompts and responses, which may involve research and fact-checking to ensure high-quality output Assessing the factuality and relevance of text produced by AI models, providing valuable feedback to improve their performance Desirable Expertise and Qualifications To excel as an AI STEM Writing Coach, you'll need: Professional experience in writing or editing, preferably in a STEM-related field A bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM discipline from a selective institution, or currently enrolled in such a program Exceptional English-language writing skills, with a strong sense of style, grammar, and spelling Logic and reasoning skills to critically evaluate AI-generated content Attention to detail and the ability to clearly articulate the strengths and weaknesses of a given piece of text While prior experience in AI or machine learning is not required, a strong foundation in STEM principles and a willingness to learn are essential. Currently, pay rates for core project work by English writing experts in the US average USD $25 per hour. However, rates may vary based on your expertise, skills assessment, location, project need, and other factors. For instance, higher rates may be offered to PhD holders. Additionally, certain projects may offer incentive payments, and you'll have the opportunity to earn extra income during project overtime phases.
